Self-insured employers, TPAs, insurance carriers, and managed care providers face increasing cases of workers’ compensation claims/requests for authorization requiring physician peer review. DataCare is pleased to announce that Medical ReviewStream® by Concentra now uses DataCare’s web application, Ahshay, to provision peer review services.

Medical Review Stream (MRS) is a URAC-accredited organization that delivers expert medical review services conducted by board-certified clinicians and other Allied Health professionals. With access to a broad array of specialties and licensure coverage, MRS resolves complex or contested workers’ compensation claims using board-certified physicians and Allied Health professionals who offer a wide breadth of specialties. Concentra also uses a state-of-the-art portal to protect data integrity and security, while processing referrals in an expedient manner to serve the injured worker.

DataCare offers the Ahshay platform for pre-approval of routine requests on the front end and the ability to further expedite the coordination of care by sending and/or receiving referrals electronically within a system. The need to email, text, fax, and phone is replaced by robust integration on a portal. These features allow for necessary medical documentation, request data and needed claims demographics to be securely and instantly transferred expediting the injured/ill worker’s treatment for necessary care. The arrangement between the two industry leaders enables users to work within the same global base system or portal, expedites the claim process, and delivers a seamless, streamlined, and rapid claim response while ensuring the same quality, reliability, and detail both MRS and DataCare have provided for years. By using the system to system referral method detailed above, all current DataCare clients can connect with MRS to send and receive referrals/determinations electronically to expedite turnaround times.

“DataCare is an industry leading organization that has broken new ground by providing their clients with software solutions that fully address their business needs,” said Michael Southwick, Assistant Vice President, Medical ReviewStream. “Through this new arrangement, Concentra and DataCare can now address any delays with the Peer Review process while ensuring quality, reliability, and attention to detail. Working together, we can achieve optimal outcomes for our mutual customers.”

Both companies are looking forward to discussing how MRS may be able to better provide peer review services using DataCare’s Ahshay software.
